Description:
The Account Director holds overall responsibility for account and client management within the hawkeye Sports and Experiential (hSE) department. He/She leads the relationship with clients, vendors and team members, actively participating in the strategic direction of marketing programs while also owning the day-to-day project details, including tasks, budget, scope and schedule management, quality of deliverables, account billings, and reporting and documentation. The Account Director typically works on multiple accounts with overlapping deadlines.
The Account Director must know the client’s business intimately and be an effective spokesperson for the client within the agency. He/She reports directly to the Group Director on account activity, income, expense planning and control, and HSE staffing. The Account Director collaborates with the hSE team on the department’s strategic business planning.
The Account Director must understand the Sports and Experiential marketing disciplines, to the end of representing hSE in new business meetings, be those meetings internal or with potential clients.
Requirements:
? Expands business opportunities within existing accounts and seeks out new opportunities with prospective ones.
? Researches and understands clients' market and industry issues; identifies strategic lifestyle marketing platforms.
? Summarizes strategy findings and makes recommendations for the development of industry-leading solutions in lifestyle marketing, delivering innovative and effective customer solutions that connect brands with consumers.
? Participates in development of Sports and Experiential marketing programs, including promotion program development, event development, event hospitality, athlete and celebrity marketing, licensing, naming rights, sponsorship packaging and sales, media leveraging and partnership development.
? Guides team in annual development and on-going implementations of strategic plans for retention, growth and profitability of assigned accounts; presents plans to President for review and approval.
? Executes and implements lifestyle marketing programs; leads client relationships and acts as main client contact and internal advocate for client’s needs and expectations; keeps team and President notified.
? Manages account workload and all internal and external team communications (specific to project management).
? Ensures deliverables meet stated goals and objectives as well as the highest standards of quality.
? Generates, updates and verifies accuracy of revenue and gross profit projections on a weekly, monthly and annual basis for assigned accounts; reviews account revenue and profit forecasts and presents to President.
Qualifications:
? This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and at least 6-8 years of experience in marketing with considerable experience in sports marketing and promotions.
? Very strong experience in sports and entertainment marketing and promotions, including sports marketing media and events, promotion program development, event management, athlete and celebrity marketing, and partnership development
? Two to four years supervisory experience leading and managing teams
? Proven client relationship development and management skills
? Expertise in Sports and Experiential marketing strategies, synthesis of database analysis, strategy and content development, and creative development
? Ability to grasp, explain and sell all agency capabilities and relate those capabilities to clients’ needs
? Ability to engage groups, manage individuals and teams, work with deadlines and direct work effectively with team members
? Analytical skills necessary to manage financial aspects of account relationship, study industry trends, research competitive issues and make client recommendations
? Excellent verbal and written communication skills; high-level client presentation skills; experienced public speaker
? Proven ability to interact with people at all levels of an organization, fostering strong cross-functional teamwork and results
