Description:
We are seeking a System Administrator to join the hawkeye team in our Charlotte, NC office.

Position Description:

The System Administrator will work as part of a team and will have oversight and perform duties on a wide range of server and system infrastructure. He/she will assume ownership of technical projects and work with other members of the team for completion. A broad skill-set will be needed to be successful in our very diverse technology-based company.

Specific Job Functions:

• Build, maintain, and support Windows and Mac OS X servers and workstations
• Participate in the maintenance and support of a medium size Microsoft Exchange environment
• Provide proactive examination of server environment and network infrastructure in order to curtail issues and mitigate outages
• Responsibility for and oversight of enterprise Backup Exec installation
• Monitor, catalog and develop action plans based on server and network log files
• Work closely with management to achieve team and department goals
• Conduct preventative maintenance to facilities, network gear, and phone equipment
• Provide strategic planning for upgrades or equipment changes
• Execute effective security and virus protection methods
• Stage all new / upgraded equipment for installation and testing before deployment
• Provide on-call after hours support for critical systems
• Occasional scheduled after hours and weekend work

Qualifications:

• This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or MIS related field (or equivalent technical college degree) or at least 2-4 years experience, or a relevant combination of education and experience.
• Broad knowledge of server and storage hardware, Mac and Microsoft operating systems and applications software
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
• Excellent technical problem solving skills

Knowledge and Experience of Specific Equipment Protocols (required):

• Windows 2003 and 2008 Server administration and configuration
• Active Directory administration and group policy
• Microsoft Exchange 2007 administration and configuration
• MS SQL 2005/2008 administration and configuration
• MS IIS administration and configuration
• ESX/ESXi VMWare administration and configuration
• SAN (fiber, iSCSI) administration and configuration
• Enterprise backup administration, tape hardware
• Windows network services (DNS, DHCP, DFS, etc.)
• Windows XP/Vista/7
• Microsoft Office 2003/2007
• Cisco VPN
• TCP/IP networking, general routing and switching
• Voice over IP

Knowledge and Experience of Specific Equipment Protocols (desirable):

• Mac OS X 10.5/10.6 client and server
• Cisco IOS, router and switch hardware
• Cisco ASA, FWSM, ASDM
• EIGRP, BGP4
• 3Com NBX
• Symantec Backup Exec 12.0/12.5

Certifications (desirable):

• Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA)
• Lefthand (HP) storage certification
• Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP)
• Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
• Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP), Server Administrator, Enterprise Administrator, Database Administrator, or Enterprise Messaging Administrator
